Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Launched GSLV with the NVS-01 Satellite from Launch Pad-2 at the Satish Dhawan Space Research Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. F-12 rocket was successfully launched on Monday at 10:42am.

The 51.7-metre GSLV F-12 placed the NVS-01 satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. GSLV F-12 is the 15th flight of India’s GSLV; and the 9th flight with an indigenous cryostage.

In this situation, ISRO Chief Somnath said that NVS-01 guidance satellite launched by F-12 rocket was successfully placed in Geosynchronous transfer orbit. The ISRO Chief thanked all those who performed well in these missions.

The NVS-01 is the first in the second generation navigation satellite series, which will ensure continuity of legacy NavIC services and also provide new service in the LI Band.

Some of the applications of NavIC include terrestrial, Aerial and Maritime navigation, Precision Agriculture, location based services, in the mobile devices and marine fisheries among many others.
